And with a snap of the fingers, it’s August. A week of pottering with Greenfield, supporting users and putting in a break-glass solution, should we lose our VPN Gateway.
Work:
Every quarter, I go through the process of checking and updating the Terraform version on our Workspaces, as well as the Azure and Mongo providers. I spent some time examining the various versions to see what they do. We want to update Postgres and Mongo, but I am waiting for Terraform providers to catch up.
I have deployed a break-glass solution in case we are unable to VPN into our environment. It consists of an internal virtual machine, a public IP on our Firewall, and a DNAT rule. Access to it is managed by an IP address in an IP Group. Does what it needs to.
Made a change to SSO secrets in key vaults on all environments. Fiddly job as it was all manual, but needed to be done.
Started looking at the old infrastructure that can be deleted. This will be an ongoing review and delete task for the next few months.
Also started looking at the IAM permissions I have applied manually. It’s a tedious task I need to Terraform.
And there was a flurry of last-minute support tickets relating to user access on Greenfield. It could have been avoided if they had done what I asked months ago and checked, and also read the user guides I provided. But hey-ho, that’s users.
Not work:
Corex1, Grease The Groove x1, Run x2
Disappointing week fitness-wise. I was doing some plaster repair and sanding of said plaster repair and hurt my recovering shoulder, so any strength work was put on hold to let it recede a bit and recover.
My partner got back from working on an expedition in Peru over the weekend, so it was a lazy catch up.
