I’ve spent a week up in Scotland while my partner was working on a DoE expedition. Bit of a mixed week, feels odd working during the day and squeezing in a few hours after work. Not sure if I would do it again, as I like to spend a good 6-8 hours to get into the places I want to. Still, I managed a few short walks, which is always a great way to unwind from work.
Work:
I took a quick look at Azure Defender ahead of interviewing security engineers. I just wanted to familiarise myself with it again. Good to see not many reports for the new infrastructure.
Another week, another Microsoft support issue to raise. This time, we had some VPN client issues. Glad to report their support was straight on it, but in the end, it wasn’t an infrastructure issue.
I spent a few days researching data architecture. Now that my involvement with Greenfield is winding down, my next project is to look at putting in a Warehouse of some kind. I think the company is keen on Fabric, so that’s some new technology to learn and a new bunch of tools to add to the toolbox.
Ended up spinning DR again, for testing. Because we have isolated our PROD and DR environments, it’s been good to iron out the kinks in relation to the firewall access rules.
Not work:
Couldn’t bring my kettlebells up to Scotland, so it’s been some basic bodyweight exercises.
Managed to get out for a few walks after work. Walked around the Craigellachie Nature Reserve and summited the hill and also walked out to the Chalamain Gap, which is perhaps my favorite place here in the Cairngorms. It’s just one massive boulder field, so if you like rock hopping, then it’s a dream.
